On September 23, 2024, the College of Nursing at Tomas Claudio Colleges held its Capping, Pinning, and Candlelighting Ceremony at the TCC Multipurpose Gymnasium, a time-honored tradition marking a pivotal moment in the nursing students’ academic journey.
The ceremony began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration led by Rev. Fr. Jose Bautista, providing a reflective space to honor the significance of the day.
In attendance were:
Dr. Edmund Francisco, President of Tomas Claudio Colleges
Dr. Eva De Rosas, Chief Academic Officer
Prof. Perlita Santiago, Dean of the College of Nursing
Faculty, parents, and guests joined in celebrating the students’ hard work and the commitment they were about to make to their profession.
The capping and pinning represent more than just achievements—they symbolize the students' readiness to embrace the core values of nursing: compassion, care, and responsibility. The act of receiving their cap and pin marks their entry into patient care, signaling their dedication to the profession’s trust and expectations.
The candlelighting ceremony, inspired by the legacy of Florence Nightingale, symbolizes the students' promise to uphold the light of knowledge and service, guiding them throughout their careers as nurses.
As the students receive their caps, pins, and light their candles, they symbolically step into their new roles, carrying with them the knowledge they have gained and their commitment to serve others with integrity.
This event was a day filled with pride and purpose, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey of care, dedication, and service to humanity.
